Dental bridges are an excellent way to replace a missing tooth or teeth that are between healthy, natural teeth. We typically use bridges that are non-removable; however, you and Dr. Patel will discuss what the bridge that best fits your needs. Most bridges consist of crowns that go over two healthy anchoring teeth and are attached to artificial teeth that fill (or “bridge”) the gap created by one or more missing teeth.
Properly cared for, your bridge will complete your smile for many years to come. We will check it during regular checkups to ensure it stays in good condition.
In addition to filling the space left by missing teeth and restoring your smile, a dental bridge will also help to maintain your facial shape, restore your ability to chew and speak and prevent your remaining teeth from moving out of position.
The process of getting a bridge usually involves two visits. During your first visit, we will prepare the two anchoring teeth with the placement of dental crowns. A mold will be made and sent to the dental lab where your custom-made bridge will be fabricated. We will provide a temporary bridge to wear until your next appointment.
During your second visit, your brand-new, permanent bridge will be checked carefully, Dr. Patel will adjust it, and cement it into your mouth for a perfect fit. We will be sure to provide instructions to care for your bridge. Proper oral hygiene and regular checkups will help your bridge last as long as possible.
